Burlesque is first and foremost a performance. It is a mostly pg-13 striptease with a story line. Imagine that people don’t usually remember “that” you stripped but remember “HOW” you stripped. I like to call it “sexy with a purpose.” It has been utilize as a tool of expression and sexual liberation by many of its performers. Imagine cabaret dancer with a striptease. Yes and no. Burlesque performers are never fully nude but do get down to a g-string and pasties (pasties are usually highly decorated or themed nipple coverings). However the level of stripping is up to the performer and at the personal choice of the performer as to how and when.

Our class is 6-weeks long with a showcase on the 7th week. Sometimes we find that our students feel nervous but we can assure you that you will be supported by your fellow classmates as well as your friends and family who are absolutely thrilled to see all the fun and effort you have put into your performance. However if the need arises you do have the option to join the showcase in other ways that we can discuss during your session, though performing is strongly encouraged. HEY YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL and we want to see you shake it!!

Almost all of our classes will have some sort of movement in them. It is best if you are able to wear something that allows you to move whether that be stretching standing up or getting on the floor. Class description can help aid in what you should wear but loose fitting clothing is a good bet. We do use heels occasionally but we can talk about the best footwear during our first class with you. If you don’t wear high heels please do not go out and buy any! We will guide you to the best footwear for movement!
